Mom is still in the Cardiac Care Unit.
Her three day stay in CCU has turned into
day 15, as of today.
I think I mentiond in my last post the day after surgery that had to put her on dialysis due
to and unexpected problem with her kidneys.
She is still on the ventilator :-( which concerns us....
she is breathing on her own as well and has done so for up to five hours without
the assistance of the vent.
There have been issues with getting her upper and lower heart rhythms in sync with each other.
Yet more issues with her blood pressure.
Yesterday we were informed she now has CDIF a highly contagious bacterial infection,
not all that unusual in a hospital setting (surprised).
Now visiting her requires scrubbing in, and wearing a gown and the likes. Removing gown
in the room prior to re washing to leave the room.
Antibiotics started right away and usually takes a few days to a couple weeks to treat.
We are now faced with the decision of allowing a tracheotomy (sp) to be done so they
can take her off the ventilator. The plus, she would no longer have to remain sedated, she
could be alert and aware of our presence. It would also allow her movement, sitting, and hopefully soon
get her up and walking. Lots of risk staying on the vent, pneumonia setting in, blood clots from not moving and more infection.
So much to think about.
Mom's twin sister and my cousin came out last Saturday. My Aunt has remained and is staying with
me. Many trips to the hospital with my little Khloe in tow, she has been such a trooper.
Khloe and I have been sick for this last week so I am not able to visit Mom, which is very hard.
Some amazing women from our couples Bible study have provided us dinners, what a gift that is!!
Please keep my Mom, Margie in your prayers. Sorry I don't update often..my days go by
far to fast.
His Will be done.....is what echos from my heart today.

ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear all that you've been through with your mother.
Of course she and all of you will be in my thoughts and prayers. And also that the Lord will help you to make the right decisions.
Take care now-KImberly
I continue to pray for your mom; I ask God to please help in the healing process for her. I mention her name, Margie, but I know HE knows without doing that.
ReplyDeletePlease take care of yourself too, Debi. I know those decisions are SO difficult. But, you're right that the longer she stays immobile, the greater the risk. I'm so very sorry she contracted that infection!
Love ya lots!!
Debi, It must be so painful to stand by and watch your mother go through so much, and added to it is the Mother's Day celebration she will miss. I can't imagine all the work you are having to do. What a blessing that the meals were provided. I wish I lived closer so that I could help. I will keep you and her in my prayers.
